Unit

Unit marks the first collaboration with Eskoleia, a Norwegian company with over a century of manufacturing heritage since 1912. Since its pivot to furniture in the 1960s, the company has been Norway’s leading producer of steel plate furniture, delivering high-quality, sustainable, and flexible storage solutions for professional environments. Combining deep material knowhow with advanced computer aided design and manufacture, the output is state of the art. Beyond that, Eskoleia has long prioritized both users and makers, evident in their retraining program that helps people re-enter the job market.

"As our need for physical storage in offices diminishes, we saw an opportunity to let these products embrace a stronger sculptural presence"

All panels are replaceable as only mechanical fasteners are used throughout the entire series. With an internal powder-coating facility, Eskoleia offers great flexibility for surface finish.

The Unit collection consists of six storage pieces that balance robust functionality with sculptural refinement.

They range from a console for larger conference- and boardrooms, to storage units for open plan spaces, and personal storage units and lounge area pieces.

Each piece offers a storage solution, in the lid, the top compartment, or by opening up the front.

"Usually what you find in a meeting room storage unit is a couple of cables, an instruction manual and maybe a brochure. We still need furniture to populate our workspaces, but we can afford to be a bit more playful. That is why Unit only uses the top compartment for storage, while the base creates a profile that gives the pieces architectural presence rather than just utility."
