Kebony
The Kebony project started as they wanted to showcase the properties of the novel wood. Infused with residues from sugar production Kebony is an environmentally friendly alternative to standard impregnated wooden products for outdoor use. As a new company they wanted to show it in something other than facade or floor coverings. We designed a series of benches, and used a contrasting material and colour to highlight the deep colour of the timber.
The construction of the bench is held togeter by a singel screw. The concrete base was to add weight as the benches were designed for public spaces but also roof top terraces where fastening to the floor could be difficult.
