Howdy Owls

The owls are the result of the first collaborative project between StokkeAustad and Andreas Engesvik, Oslo. They were originally made for the exhibition Designblok in Prague. The Owls were modelled in polystyrene and then milled out of solid wood.

We wanted to create a sculptural and entirely decorative product, and object without a specific function or solving a task. We aimed to work in the field between craftsmanship and traditional industrial design. Our interest in tradition and crafts has brought us in this area, and the representation of animal objects are also in line with our Scandinavian heritage.

The wood used for the owls is untreated and dried for approximately 100 days before being processed as the natural moisture in the wood would otherwise affect the appearance and at worst also the shape.
